Jones Energy Terminates President and CEO

A Texas energy company with a heavy drilling commitment in western Oklahoma has dumped its CEO.

Jones Energy, Inc. based in Austin, Texas removed Jonny Jones as Chief Executive Officer and Mike S. McConnell as President.

Word came in a company filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. While Jones was removed as CEO, he will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board. McConnell will also continued to serve on the Board.

The company has named Jeff Tanner as the new Chief Operating Officer. He will also serve as the Interim Chief Executive Officer of the company until a successor is named by the Board.

Tanner is 55 and joined the company in 2014. He serves as Executive Vice President of Geosciences and Business Development of the company. He previously worked for Southwestern Energy as well as Laredo Petroleum, Cabot Oil and Gas and Noble Energy.

The company is an active participant in Oklahoma’s STACK exploration and the Anadarko Basin.
