Expand Energy to release 1Q earnings

As it moves headquarters from Oklahoma City to Houston, Texas following a merger with Southwestern Energy Company which was finalized last fall, Expand Energy Corporation prepares to release its first quarter operational and financial results later this month.

The initial release will be made after the closing of markets on Tuesday, April and followed by a conference call at 8 a.m. central time on Wednesday, April 29.

Using a dozen rigs in the fourth quarter, Expand drilled 51 wells and turned another 66 wells in line with the net production totaling 92% natural gas. It finished the quarter with $956 million net cash from operating activities which represented a more than 150% increase from the fourth quarter of 2024.

Net income was $553 million or $2.30 per share and adjusted net income totaled $481 million or $2 a share. Adjusted EBITDAS was $1,425,000,000. For the full year 2025, Expand’s net income was $1,819,000,000 or $7.57 a share and adjusted net income came to $1,467,000,000 or $6.10 per diluted share.

“In 2025, Expand Energy took clear action to meet the world’s need for affordable, reliable, lower carbon energy. In our first year since announcing the merger, we exceeded our synergy targets and improved our Haynesville breakevens by approximately 15%, while achieving double-digit production growth,” said Mike Wichterich, Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of Expand Energy.

He went on to say the company expects higher volume delivery in 2026 with less capital and “consistently grow free cash flow.”

The company expected to continue with operation of 11 to 12 rigs.

Expand’s February announcement of moving headquarters to Houston shocked the Oklahoma City business community, even with professions from the company that much of its workforce would remain in Oklahoma. The company said at the time that the relocation would “primarily focus on the executive leadership team,” claiming the move would strengthen Expand Energy’s relationships with key industry and commercial partners in support of the company’s long-term growth objectives.

“Oklahoma City will remain an important center of excellence for Expand Energy’s business and operations, and the Company remains committed to supporting its Oklahoma City employees and the local community,” said Expand.
