Some changes are coming in Oklahoma’s plans for the future when it comes to road and bridge improvements.
The Oklahoma Transportation Commission meets Monday and one of the items before members will be the approval of the new edition of the County Improvements for Roads and Bridges 5-year Construction Work Plan.
In 2024, Commissioners okayed the plan for Fiscal Years 2024 through 2028 and scheduled more than $804 million in improvements in the state’s 77 counties. It included the addition of seven bridge projects funded by a major federal grant and emergency repairs to one flood-damaged bridge.
It’s unknown whether the additions or changes to the plan will involve major projects
The Oklahoma Transportation Commission’s monthly meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, 200 N.E. 21st St., Oklahoma City. Members of the public and media are invited to attend or watch the livestream video online.
Items to be addressed at the meeting:
- Oklahoma Department of Transportation Executive Director Tim Gatz and commissioners will welcome newly appointed District 1 Commissioner Ronnie Boswell.
- Commissioners will consider approval of the new edition of the County Improvements for Roads & Bridges 5 Year Construction Work Plan.
- Gatz will update commissioners on the status of repairs to the US-70 Roosevelt Bridge causeway at Lake Texoma
- The Commission will vote whether to award several contracts, among them a project to widen and resurface US-270 in Latimer County, a project to widen and resurface US-177 in Lincoln County and a pavement rehabilitation project along SH-66 in Creek County.

The commission, a nine-member panel appointed by the governor and legislative leaders to oversee the state’s transportation development, awards project contracts for road and bridge construction on a monthly basis.
