Connecticut Governor wants net-zero emissions and natural gas for his state

Even though Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont signed legislation into law this week putting the state on a path to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, he is also taking a serious look at expanding natural gas pipelines into his state.

Minutes after he signed the net-zero carbon emissions pledge on Tuesday, Gov. Lamont repeated his support for an expansion of pipeines carrying the natural gas.

A report by CT Mirror showed he indicated he has been in talks with the Trump administration and New York leaders about building or expanding the pipelines. He wants more gas for Connecticut and the rest of New England.

As OK Energy Today has reported numerous occasions, New England is lagging behind the growth of data centers across the U.S. which have chosen other states where natural gas is available to power electric generating plants. It’s apparent Lamont will try to do both, achieve net-zero emissions and have natural gas available for data centers that might want to locate in his state. It’s right down the alley of Williams, the Tulsa company that was rejected in attempts in the past few years to build natural gas lines into New England.
