The Trump Administration is moving forward with its effort to overturn a move by the Biden administration to give protection to the prairie chicken, a decision last year that the oil and gas drilling industry considered to be a roadblock to more oil and gas production.
In recent weeks, the government filed a motion in a Texas court arguing the Biden Administration erroneously listed the lesser prairie-chicken under the Endangered Species Act in 2022.
The lesser prairie-chicken is a unique species of grouse
found in the grasslands of southeastern Colorado, southwestern Kansas, eastern New Mexico, western Oklahoma, the Texas panhandle, and the south plains of Texas.
