Oklahoma lakes filled with recent record rains

 

While all of the recent record rainfalls across the state are good for filling ponds and lakes and ending much of the drought, it’s not so good for farmers trying to finish their 2025 wheat harvest.
Muddy fields are keeping combine operators from doing their jobs. On the other hands, lakes are filled to their brims.
The Oklahoma Mesonet reported this week some lakes are up to 22 feet above normal compared to just a few months ago.
How much rain did that?
Oklahoma State Climatologist Gary McManus says some lakes could even see higher levels as more rain was in the forecast for Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
