OGE works to restore power lost in Southern Oklahoma storms

More than a thousand customers of Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company were still without electrical power late Monday following severe weather that struck the southern part of the state Sunday evening. But service was expected to be restored by Monday midnight.

OG&E reported the hardest-hit areas were primarily in the southern region, including Ardmore, Durant, Achille, and Mannsville, Oklahoma, where damage included downed power lines, broken power poles, and damage to crossarms and other equipment attached to poles.

The utility reported that as of Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock, crews had restored power to nearly 72% of the customers who lost power during the Sunday night storms. About 1,200 customers remained without service but were expected to have power restored by late Monday night.

“We understand how important it is for our customers to have power. Our crews will continue to work around the clock until power is fully restored,” stated the utility in its power outage update.

“Once we’ve repaired the power grid, we prioritize restoration for the community’s essential services, such as hospitals, police stations, fire departments, public works, and other critical infrastructure. As those facilities come online, we turn our attention to individual homes and businesses experiencing an outage.”

After the Storm

  • Following storms, OG&E will bring tree and brush debris to the curb. However, customers are responsible for removing the debris. City and county resources for debris removal may be available and will vary by community.
