Corporation Commissioners to get update on electric production for power grid

 

A detailed report on the status of Oklahoma’s electric production capabilities and how it corresponds with the regional power grid will be a focus of Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners when they meet Wednesday afternoon.

Representataives of the Southwest Power Pool as well as two major utilities, Public Service Company of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company will join the commission’s Public Utility Division in discussing electric transmission in Oklahoma.

The Commission’s agenda stated the discussion will also include recent shed events in Louisiana and New Mexico, current issues impacting SPP and Oklahoma utility participation in the grid.

Presentation by staff members from the Southwest Power Pool (“SPP”), the Commission’s Public Utility Division, Public Service Company of Oklahoma, and Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company relating to the SPP, electric transmission in Oklahoma, recent load shed events in Louisiana and New Mexico, current issues impacting SPP and Oklahoma’s electric infrastructure, Oklahoma utility participation in SPP, and the Commission’s participation in the SPP.

B. Discussion of and questions/answers on V(A). Public comment may be permitted. It is not anticipated that any votes will be considered.
