A scheduling conflict, how to prepare press releases and development of new branding—topics of the latest non-public meeting of Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners.
A May 6 filing of their Open Meeting Act Exempt Event Compliance Form showed the form was completed May 5 and commissioners met May 1 at 10:30 in the morning. It was a meeting where the public was not invited nor notified because it fell under the new law that allows the three commissioners to meet in private.
The form indicated the commissioners held a discussion “of a scheduling conflict on May 14, 2025 due to the Pipeline Safety Seminar in Tulsa.” They considered the possibility of holding their regular public meeting in the Tulsa office with attendance availability/participation in Oklahoma City.
A second topic of non-public discussion regarded the “current process for how OCC prepares and issues press releases and media statements.” There was no further information provided regarding the topic.
A third point of discussion featured Commission Administrator Brandy Wreath who gave updates on 1) the OCC’s new branding and staff involvement to develop the new branding, 2) Update on OCC involvement in community activities and outreach, and 3) Looking into obtaining a Chat GPT government license.
Wreath also provided an update on recent employee terminations. Legislative Liaison Travis Weedn, who was also present for the closed-door meeting, provided an update on HJR1033 which would approve the OCC’s rulemakings.
The final topic of discussion was the process for evaluating membership in regional and national regulatory training and policy organizations.
The form indicated all three commissioners, Kim David, Todd Hiett and Brian Bingman attended the meeting along with Commissioners staff: Jeff Kline (Legal Advisor to Commissioner David), Erica O’Neal (Regulatory Assistant/Paralegal to Commissioner David), Nicole King (Legal Advisor to Commissioner Hiett), Jared Haines (Administrative Aid to Commissioner Bingman), Louis Jackson (Advisor and Assistant to Commissioner Bingman) and Henry Berry (Intern to Commissioner Bingman).
Director of Administration Brandy Wreath, Weedn and Policy Advisor Scott Irwin were also listed as in attendance.
