The latest Baker Hughes Co. rig count shows activity in Oklahoma remained steady with a total of 55 operating oil and gas rigs, the same total as the previous week. The U.S. total dropped by 3 to 584 active total rigs.
Oklahoma’s count of 55 rigs compares to 45 reported by Baker Hughes a year ago. The U.S. total included a loss of 4 oil rigs to 479 while there was gain of 2 gas rigs for a total of 101. The miscellaneous rig count fell one to 4.
The latest national total is 21 fewer than a year ago when the rig count was 605. The decline included a loss of 20 oil rigs and one gas rig while miscellaneous saw no change. There was a gain of one offshore rig for a total of 14.
Oklahoma’s total of 55 compared to Texas where the count fell by 3 to 271 rigs and to New Mexico where the total was unchanged at 100 rigs. North Dakota remained at 332 rigs while Louisiana increased its count by 3 to 33 rigs.
The Red Top Rig Report published by the Independent Oil & Gas Service Inc. in Wichita showed the Kansas total fell one to 20 rigs.
Baker Hughes reported Colorado’s count was unchanged at 8 rigs and Ohio’s total declined by 3 to 9 rigs. Pennsylvania remained at 18 rigs and Utah continued with 11. West Virginia was unchanged at 8 rigs and the count in Wyoming stayed at 21. Alaska saw no change with 10 drilling rigs and California remained at 6.
