Latest Broadband launching to serve 14 counties

 

 

While the Oklahoma Broadband Office is hoping to land possibly millions more in federal funds which could be made available this summer, it is planning on the launching of still another system serving 14 counties.

The Office said it will officially launch 20 broadband expansion projects with internet service provider Resound Networks to improve access to high-speed internet service in 14 Oklahoma counties (Canadian, Comanche, Custer, Jackson, Kiowa, Lincoln, Major, Marshall, Noble, Nowata, Pontotoc, Roger Mills, Stephens, and Washita). The projects will significantly enhance digital access to provide economic opportunities for residents and businesses in the area.

Background:

These projects are among some 170 that are funded by the ARPA State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund and ARPA Capital Projects Fund that will greatly improve high-speed internet access throughout the state, but especially in rural Oklahoma. Awarded grants administered by the Oklahoma Broadband Office will connect some 70,000 homes and businesses in 57 of the state’s 77 counties.
