Cana Woodford remains most active drilling play in Oklahoma

 

Oklahoma’s Cana Woodford play was one of three oil and gas plays across the nation to see a gain of drilling rigs in the past week, according to the latest Baker Hughes rig count.

The Cana increased its rig count by one, reaching a total of 19 active rigs in the most recent reporting period.

The Marcellus play also saw a gain of one rig to reach 25 total. The Utica play activity grew by 2 rigs for a total of 13.

Other oil and gas plays throughout the U.S. remained constant with no losses or gains. The Permian Basin was steady with 289 rigs in west Texas and southeast New Mexico.

The Ardmore Woodford in Oklahoma remained at 6 rigs and the Arkoma Woodford continued with one rig. The Barnett play was unchanged with 2rigs.

The D-J Basin stayed at 6 and the Eagle Ford continued with a count of 47 rigs. The Granite Wash in Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle remained at 11 rigs. The Haynesville stayed at 31. The Mississippian, based on the Baker Hughes rig report, continued for another week with no reported drilling activity and is the state’s only major play devoid of drilling.The Williston in North Dakota saw no change with a count of 33 rigs.
