Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners, in their latest non-public meeting, continued discussions with staff about the potential impact of several bills under consideration in the Oklahoma legislature.
Filed Monday by Jeff Kline, Legal Advisor to Commission Chairman Kim David, the Open Meeting Act Exempt Event Compliance Form showed all three commissioners met privately with staff on Wednesday, March 19 of this year. Since it was exempt from the Open Meetings Act, the meeting did not require the notification of the public.
Nine bills in the legislature were discussed as staff members gave an update on the status of the measures. The bills in question were: HB2747, SB998, HB2603, HB2752, HB2756, HB1662, HB2751, HB1374 and HB2155. All have the potential to impact the Corporation Commission.
A second part of the private meeting dealt with an update from Administrator Brandy Wreath regarding the status and progress of interviews for a new director of the Commission’s Oil and Gas Conservation Division. There was also discussion of a new employee who will join the commission soon.
Another topic of discussion concerned the agency’s process to purchase and/or lease vehicles.
The form also revealed that in addition to Commissioners Kim David, Todd Hiett and Brian Bingman, others who attended the non-public meeting were Erica O’Neal, Louis Jackson, Matt Mullins, Henry Berry and Travis Weedn.
By law, the commission has five business days to comply and post the details of any exempted meeting. The law took effect in November 2024.
