Walmart has decided to go toe-to-toe with Costco and is doing it by opening and remodeling more than 450 fuel and convenience stations by the end of the year.
It intends to carry out the expanded operations at stores in 34 states as it tries to blunt the competition of Costco with its more than 700 gas stations.
A report by Quartz indicated Walmart opened its competitive decision by also offering a 10-cent a gallon discount to loyalty members at Walmart, Exxon, Mobil and Murphy USA stations.
OK Energy Today reported recently that Costco expanded its hours of operation of gas stations with earlier in the morning openings.
