Oklahoma recorded an increase in its oil and gas rig count

 

Oklahoma saw a gain of two to reach 53 oil and gas rigs operating in the state, according to the latest rig count released by Baker Hughes Co.

The increase compares to the 44 active rigs reported one year ago.

Baker Hughes reported the nation saw a gain of one to reach 593 rigs. The number of oil rigs declined one to 486 while there was a gain of two to 102 gas rigs. The number of miscellaneous rigs was unchanged at 5. The offshore rig count remained at 14.

The U.S. count is 31 below last year’s total of 624 rigs and the decline included 23 oil rigs and 10 gas rigs while the miscellaneous count gained two.

The count in Texas fell one to 280 rigs while New Mexico was unchanged at 102 rigs. North Dakota stayed at 32 and Louisiana’s total reached 30 on a one-rig gain. Colorado stayed at 8 rigs.

The Red Top Rig Report in Kansas reported the state’s count dropped by one to 17 rigs. Ohio continued with 9 rigs and Pennsylvania remained at 15. Utah held steady at 12 and West Virginia stayed at 11. Wyoming’s count of 21 was unchanged from last week. Alaska also reported 10 active rigs.
