Oklahoma Forester Mark Goeller out of a job following bad wildfires

Just a few weeks after disastrous and deadly wildfires, some of which are still burning, hit Oklahoma, State Forester Mark Goeller is no longer with the agency. His departure was confirmed by Gov. Kevin Stitt who was critical of the agency’s handling of the fires.

“”As far as Mark’s departure, he’s the head of the forestry department, and we had a horrible, horrible wildfire in the state of Oklahoma, and didn’t think they did a really good job,” Stitt said at a news conference this week when questioned about Goeller’s position.

Goeller was named state forester and director of the Oklahoma Forestry Services in 2018.
