House Committee approves windfarm setback bill

A bill targeting the wind industry in Oklahoma was approved this week by a state House Committee.

The House Energy and Natural Resources Oversight Committee passed House Bill 2751 by Rep. Trey Caldwell on a 10-6 vote and now it’s eligible to be heard by the full House. The measure calls for an extension of the required setbacks of wind turbines from airports, public schools and hospitals.

A report by Oklahoma Voice indicated some questions are being raised about private property rights of landowners who might want wind turbines on their land.
