Waterways used to deliver turbine for Grand River Dam Authority

A large advanced gas turbine recently made the trip up the McClellan–Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System to be used by the Grand River Dam Authority in providing electricity to its customers.

The Mitsubishi Power turbine arrived at the Tulsa Ports Low Water Wharf at the Port of Catoosa, according to a monthly report by the Tulsa Ports Authority.

The turbine, which started its journey in Savannah, Georgia, was transported to the Port via Oklahoma’s inland waterways, then moved by rail to its final destination in Chouteau. This cutting-edge turbine supports GRDA’s mission for cleaner, more efficient energy generation. “What we are seeing all across the country is an increase in demand for electricity,” said Justin Alberty, the spokesperson for Grand River Dam Authority. “It just continues to go up, so we want to be out ahead of that.”
