Oklahoma U.S. Sen. Markwayne Mullin is claiming the FAA’s Air Traffic Control academy in Oklahoma City has struggled to fill its classrooms and he blames DEI quotas.
It’s what he told “Fox News Live” on Saturday.
“Instead of these classes being 100% full, we were at 80% or 70%, and it wasn’t from the lack of individuals applying for it except for each class had a ratio that they had to have on it,” the senator said.
Mullin has some support in his contentions and it comes from Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall. The Republican thinks diversity, equity and inclusion programs contributed to the recent in-air collision of the airliner that took off from Wichita and an Army helicopter at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C.
“I think you’re going to find out is, there were a lot of qualified white men that they were not hiring because they were holding spots for DEI hires,” Marshall told the Hutchinson News. “You know, it’s interesting … I look at the pilot every time. I never said, ‘Oh, I hope that’s a DEI hire.'”
