The most recent Fire Situation Report from the Oklahoma Forestry Division shows a growing dryness in the state will lead to increased fire dangers in the coming few days.
Here is the report issued Thursday:
Strong drying conditions today will continue to support the expectation of increased wildfire occurrence coupled with prescribed and controlled burning activity on the landscape. Friday will present elevated fire weather over fuels that have been subjected to persistent drying prompting increased wildfire potential.
An unsettled weather pattern presenting some rain/storm chances along with fire danger concern that will be dependent upon the eastern extent of the dryline movement into the
state from west to east. The days that we are focusing on are Sunday through Tuesday. Currently, Tuesday holds the highest
fire danger concern emphasizing western Oklahoma noting that the concern is conditional on location and amount of rainfall on
Sunday.
