Feds take control of natural gas pipelines in Missouri and the reason will surprise you

The more than 1.5 million miles of natural gas pipelines in Missouri were taken over by federal regulators last month and the reason is because state regulators weren’t assessing high-enough fines for violations.

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration had warned Missouri its fines were too low. However, the only way fines could be raised was through the legislature and action had not been taken in nearly a decade.
