New Mexico’s regulatory crackdown on the state’s prolific oil and gas industry has been upheld by the state Court of Appeals in a legal fight with the Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico.
The fight focused on a 2022 rule created by state regulators to curb pollutants that create ground-level ozone. The rule had the support of Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham as part of her administration’s effort to fight climate change.
