No change in Oklahoma’s rig numbers

Oklahoma’s oil and gas rig activity held steady in the past week with a count of 43 rigs, unchanged from the previous reporting period by Baker Hughes.

It compared to Texas where the count grew by one to 285 rigs. New Mexico fell one to 103 and North Dakota held at 35 rigs. Louisiana remained at 31 oil and gas rigs while Colorado stayed at a count of 10 rigs.

Kansas, according to the Red Top Rig Report published by the Independent Oil & Gas Service, Inc. experienced a decline of 9 rigs from 33 rigs a week ago to 24 this week.

Ohio was unchanged at 9 rigs and Pennsylvania saw no change with a count of 15 rigs. Utah remained at 12 rigs. West Virginia continued with10 rigs and Wyoming’s count stayed at 18 rigs.

Baker Hughes reported the U.S. count was unchanged at 589 with an increase of one oil rig to 483 while the number of gas rigs declined one to 102. The miscellaneous rig count remained at four.

Compared to a year ago when there were 620 oil and rigs, the U.S. count is 31 fewer and it includes a decline of 15 oil rigs and 18 gas rigs. Miscellaneous increased by two over the past year while the offshore rig count was unchanged at 14 but is 5 fewer than one year earlier.
