As Oklahoma’s rig count slipped by one in the past week, from 44 to 43, the nation saw a significant gain of 7 rigs to a total of 589.
The latest Baker Hughes rig count compared Oklahoma’s current rig numbers to 38 a year ago.
Nationally, the count included a gain of 5 oil rigs for a total of 482 while the number of gas rigs grew by 2 to 102. Compared to a year ago, the count is 37 fewer than the 626 rigs reported at the time. The current count of oil rigs is 21 down and gas rigs are 17 fewer from this time last year.
The U.S. Offshore Rig Count is up 2 to 15, down 6 year-over-year, reported Baker Hughes in its Friday release.
Texas saw a gain of 5 for a total of 286 rigs. New Mexico was unchanged at 102 and North Dakota gained one for 35. Louisiana stayed at a count of 30 while Colorado continued with 10 rigs.
The Red Top Rig Report published by the Independent Oil and Gas Service in Wichita showed Kansas gained one to reach 31 rigs.
Ohio’s count fell one to 9 while Pennsylvania added one to reach 16. Utah gained a rig for 12 and West Virginia was unchanged at 10. Wyoming’s count stayed at 18 rigs.
