** Russia’s state oil firm Rosneft has agreed to supply nearly 500,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude to Indian private refiner Reliance in the biggest ever energy deal between the two countries, three sources familiar with the deal said.

** Britain’s electricity grid has burned record amounts of gas to keep the lights on after a “dunkelflaute” weather event knocked out swathes of the country’s wind and solar farms. The amount of power generated by gas-fired plants surged to more than 70pc on Thursday morning, as the output of renewables tumbled to just 6pc.
