Exxon Mobil’s appeal of a more than $14 million fine for thousands of air quality violations at a Texas refinery and chemical plant complext was rejected by a federal appeals court in the past week.
The appeal was over a 2021 ruling by a judge who imposed the $14.25 million fine over the energy company’s operatoins at its refinery and chemical plant complex in Baytown. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals turned aside Exxon’s appeal, putting an end to more than a decade of litigation since the Sierra Club and Environment Texas sued the company in 2010 reported the Texas Tribune.
