The Baker Hughes rig report released Friday showed the nation’s oil and gas rig numbers were fairly steady with a decline of one rig, leaving 584 oil and gas rigs active across Oklahoma and the other energy producing states.
The decline included one oil rig, resulting in 478 still drilling for oil while the number of gas rigs grew by one to 101. The number of miscellaneous increased one to 5 rigs. The overall national count is 34 fewer than a year ago when there were 618 rigs reported by Baker Hughes Co. The decline included 22 oil rigs and 13 gas rigs. Miscellaneous increased one while off shore rigs were unchanged at 14.
The Oklahoma count slipped by one to 43 rigs, compared to 37 active in the state a year ago.
Texas saw a drop of two to 279. New Mexico increased its count by two to 102. North Dakota was unchanged at 34. Louisiana saw no change with a count of 33.
The Red Top Rig Report showed Kansas fell by 4 to 30 rigs and Colorado stayed at 11. Ohio continued with 10 rigs and Pennsylvania gained one to reach 15. Utah’s count slipped one to 11 rigs. West Virginia was unchanged at 10 and Wyoming continue with 18 rigs.
