Three weeks after a geyser of saltwater and poisonous hydrogen sulfide gas spewed into the air from an oil field in West Texas, it has finally died.
So reported Fuel Fix of the Houston Chronicle. The geyser was first discovered in a Reeves County oil field or the Permian Basin.
Reports indicated Kinder Morgan crews finally were able to plug the well with cement.
The pipeline company explains the geyser came from a well that had been drilled and plugged in 1961. It’s not confirmed but the geyser might have been connected to earthquakes in the region.
An investigation is still underway to determine the source of the water.
