The wind industry, the Kiamichi River hydroelectric project and other related issues will be focused on Tuesday by members of the Oklahoma House Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
They will spend the entire day discussing the issues prior to the start of the 2025 session of the Oklahoma legislature. Energy Generation will be the focus from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. as part of the House interim study. The study is entitled “Advancing Electric Generation for Future Economic Development.”
Committee members will spend the afternoon on other energy issues.
From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. they will review the proposed hydroelectric dam on the Kiamichi River in southeast Oklahoma. The project is opposed by Oklahoma Congressman Josh Brecheen as well as some surrounding communities and Indian tribes.
Wrapping up the interim study will be a 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. session as part of a hearing to “Evaluate and compare Oklahoma’s Wind Industry Tax Policy to other regional wind producing states.”
