Landowners object to Phillips 66 pipeline site in Oklahoma County

Phillips 66 has begun construction of a new pipeline, shown here at N Midwest Blvd and NE 63rd St.

Phillips 66 is defending the route it chose to construct a pipeline through eastern Oklahoma County even as some landowners object to the project.

The landowners near East Britton Road and North Midwest Blvd. contend the project will destroy their farmland.

In a statement to  Fox 25 News, Phillips 66 also explained that in one case, the landowner refused “compensation that was higher than market value and rejected other recent attempts at resolution.”

The company also rejected criticism of the route it chose for the pipeline, stating that “more proactive measures are required to update its infrastructure that was first built in the 1930s. The new route ensures the continued safe transport of essential fuels to Oklahoma City and surrounding areas.”
