The state of Kansas saw a 5% increase in clean energy jobs last year according to a new  Clean Jobs Midwest’s report.

As a result, Kansas had 26,058 people working in the clean energy industry, far more than in 2019 when 24,812 worked in the industry.

The report found 761,000 people were employed by clean energy and clean vehicle companies in the Midwest, topping the pre-COVID-19 record of 739,402 in 2019. What are clean energy jobs?

As definied in the Clean Jobs Midwest report, they involve workdays doing things like manufacturing ENERGY STAR-rated appliances; installing efficient lighting; connecting heat pumps and other highly efficient heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems; and constructing homes and commercial buildings using advanced materials like low-carbon concrete.
