Google takes advantage of largest solar farm in Texas

They held a big ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday in central Texas for what is being called one of the largest solar projects in the U.S.

And for Google, it was the firm’s largest solar electricity deal it’s ever made.

The site is Buckholts, Texas and the event drew U.S. Energy Secretary Jenier Granholm who has been busy in the past few weeks attending as many energy events as possible prior to the Presidential election. She called the project a “posterchild” for the Biden-Harris administration’s promotion of green energy projects.

“Sometimes when you are in the middle of history, it’s hard to tell, because you are in the middle of it,” she said, reported the Associated Press.

“But I’m telling you right now that we are in the middle of history being made.”

The project is called the “Orion Solar Belt” built by SB Energy. It will provide 875 megawatts of energy.
