Crude oil prices slide more than 2%

Concerns about slower economic growth in both the U.S. and China were blamed for bringing down crude oil prices Tuesday. They fell 2% as investors were said to be worried the slow economies will reduce demand for energy.

Some analysts were overly concerned about the more than 2% slide in prices, explaining it was within range of a normal correction after prices had gained $6 a barrel in the past week.

West Texas Intermediate crude, the benchmark in the states, fell $1.89 or 2.4% to settle at $75.53 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The global standard, Brent crude, dropped $1.88 or 2.3% and finished just under $80, at $79.55 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.

The tumble in crude oil prices also brought down most Oklahoma energy stocks. At least 3% losses were recorded by Mach Natural Resources and NGL Energy Partners.
