On a day when crude oil prices rose higher in Tuesday’s trading, some Oklahoma energy stocks did the same with one state utility soaring 12%.
The day of gains came a day after painful losses by energy stocks when the stock market took a hit on Monday. What happened? Experts say investors focused on supply tighteness of crude oil supplies.
West Texas Intermediate crude went up 26 cents or 0.4% to settle at $73.20 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude, the global standard, gained 18 cents or 0.2% to reach $76.48 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
For WTI and Brent, it was the end of a three-session declining streak, according to Reuters.
September natural gas rose 7 cents to $2.01 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Some surprising gains were made by Oklahoma energy stocks on Tuesday with OG&E booming 12% while ONEOK rose 5%.
