Critic charges what regulators did to Accountant was no less than “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington”

Shocking and disgraceful.

It’s the words used to describe how accountant David Greenwell was denied by the Corporation Commission an opportunity to support claims that the Commission’s audits of the 2021 storm costs were not legitimate audits. Costs that Oklahoma ratepayers will be paying for the next 25 years.

Nichols Hills Mayor Sody McCampbell Clements used The Sunday Oklahoman’s “Your Turn” opinion page to heap criticism on the decision last month by the regulators to not allow Greenwell to  give a brief presentation explaining why the continuing controversial storm costs never underwent a legal and legitimate audit, something also claimed by corporation commissioner Bob Anthony.

McCampbell Clements compared it to the corruption in the 1939 Jimmie Stewart classic, “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.” The mayor championed the critical questions of why the securitization bonds were rushed through so quickly by two of the three regulators.
