Wyoming Governor targets billionaire Bloomberg with emergency order

The attempt by billionaire Michael Bloomberg and his Wyoming Outdoor Council to outbid oil and gas companies during a state-led oil and gas lease auction prompted Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon to prevent environmental activist groups from driving up bids and keeping the land out of the hands of oil and gas firms.

Gov. Gordon signed an emergency order last week to implement changes in this week’s state-led oil and gas lease auction. The step he took came after the 2024 legislature passed a bill that redefined qualified bidders. It would also prevent people like Bloomberg and his Wyoming Outdoor Council from bidding on the land and doing nothing with it reported the Cowboy State Daily.
