Frac sand truckers staged a one-day protest on Monday in West Texas by blocking entrances to frac sand mines.
They demonstrated against low wages and working conditions as part of an organized labor movement in the Permian Basin.
The Texas Tribune reported the labor protest demonstration was carried out in three cities—Kermit, Mohanans and Odessa. An estimated dozen truckers were joined by local environmental activists in cars. The demonstration was designed to get the attention of employers and resulted in a slowdown of production in the Basin.
A similar protest was held last year.
