The company behind those J.B. Hunt trucks you see on the highways and interstates is hurting…hurting to the tune of a 28% drop in earnings compared to a year ago.
J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc., headquartered in Arkansas reported this week its second-quarter income fell for the fifth consecutive quarter. Its net income was $135.9 million, down 28.% from the $189.6 million reported one year earlier, reported Arkansas Business.
Net income was $135.9 million or $1.32 a share, down 28.3% from $189.6 million a year ago. Per share, earnings came to $1.32.
The company revealed its total revenue from hauling goods across the country was $2.93 billion, down 7% from the $3.13 billion recorded in the second quarter of last year. It is a continued sign of falling demand for big trucks to deliver goods.
