Regulators to hold special meeting on ONG’s $32 million request

A special meeting of Oklahoma regulators will be held Tuesday morning regarding a request for a $32 million  increase in charges for customers of Oklahoma Natural Gas…charges that would amount to another $29 more a year for most customers.

The 10 a.m. hearing on rate case PUD2024-000010, will be before an Administrative Law Judge and no vote is anticipated by Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners.

If approved, the average residential service charge would increase by $2.45 per month while the residential low-income customer charge would be 81 cents more a month. But with credits, ONG said the net monthly impact will be an increase of $1.37 for average residential customers and 49 cents for low-income residential customers.

However, according to one ONG representative, despite the increases, the 2024 average annual residential bill is expected to be approximately $96 lower than in 2023 due to lower gas costs and securitization rates.

The Corporation Commission’s Public Utilities Division is recommending approval of Performance Based Rate Change Plan and the Attorney General recently filed a stipulation agreement in support as well.
