It took eleven years for the state of Arkansas along with the federal government to take legal action, but on Friday, they sued ExxonMobil Pipeline Co. for the 2013 Pegasus oil pipeline leak that flooded the city of Mayflower with crude oil.
And already a settlement is in the works and paperwork could be filed this week. The suit was filed in U.S. District Court in Little Rock and John Marks, acting general counsel for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission said a proposed settlement was being prepared.
It was March 29, 2013 when the pipeline leak happened and led to an eventual total shutdown of the 850-mile-long pipeline that carried crdude oil from Illinois to Texas, reported the Arkansas Times.
