2024 Impact Awards handed out by OERB

The Oklahoma Energy Resources Board recently announced the recipients of the organization’s 2024 Impact Awards.

They were honored for making “a significant impact on our programs and our industry,” stated the OERB.

Land Restoration Partnership Award

Oklahoma Corporation Commission, Osage Bureau of Indian Affairs and Osage Conservation District

Before the OERB begins any restoration project, we work diligently with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission and Bureau of Indian Affairs to ensure there are no responsible parties. Without the help of these groups, who do this in addition to their regular jobs, we could not do the work we do.

Outstanding Service Award: Producer Education

Jordan Williams – Gulf Exploration, LLC

Outstanding Service Award: Student Education

Abigail Wendt

The Outstanding Service Awards were given to outstanding volunteers who go above in beyond in support of these programs.

Giving future leaders in Oklahoma the opportunity to flourish is the essence of our education programs. We’re proud to spotlight emerging leaders who have exemplified this mission.

Future Leader Award: Secondary

Madilyn Norvell

Madilyn Norvell, a student at Amber Pocasset, demonstrated exceptional leadership by winning the statewide 8th Grade Ag Exploration speech contest. Inspired by Mike Rowe’s visit with ranchers, she wrote a compelling speech highlighting the crucial partnership of agriculture and the oil and natural gas industries in sustaining global food production.

Future Leader Award: Collegiate

Reagan Tollefson

We met Reagan Tollefson last year when she talked to Mike Rowe about her plans to major in Chemical Engineering at OSU. After her conversations and her visit to the Hamm Institute for American Energy, Reagan was inspired to add a minor in Petroleum Engineering. Today she’s wrapping up her freshman year as a National Merit Scholar, bassoonist in the OSU orchestra, and is getting ready to start an internship at Devon Energy this summer.

Safety Partner Award

Mike Williams- Cudd Energy Services

Among our initiatives, we prioritize making tangible contributions to the communities where we live and work by hosting experiences such as our Community STEM Night and College Showcase events as well as Road Safety Days.

In the past year alone, our outreach extended to eight cities across the SCOOP and STACK. The goal of our Road Safety Days is to educate young drivers about safely navigating roads alongside large trucks.

Mike Williams’ passion for what he does and his commitment to safety and being a good neighbor is undeniable. Through Mike’s efforts, he has made an impact on hundreds of young drivers across the state.

Impact Award

Beacon Environmental

Phil Spurlin

This award is presented to the company or organization that has significantly contributed to our programs throughout the year.

For the past ten years, Beacon’s team have been our most reliable and dedicated volunteers. From helping load trucks at the Oklahoma Oil & Natural Gas Expo to helping students engineer airplanes and build roller coasters at Community STEM Nights, we can always count on them to step in wherever we need them.
