Thursday’s trading produced a nearly 2% drop in US crude oil prices

While crude oil prices dropped Thursday for a second straight day, Oklahoma energy stocks made gains. The price drop came after a weak fuel demand across the country was reported by the government. There was also a surprise increase in gasoline stockpiles.

West Texas Intermediate crude took a slide of $1.32 or 1.7% to $77.91 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Brent crude dropped $1.74 or 2.1% and finished the day at $81.86 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.

 July natural gas fell 10 cents to $2.57 per 1,000 cubic feet.

With a few exceptions, most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded gains in Thursday’s trading including a 5% boost for Matrix Service Company.

Other energy stocks had a mixed day, according to the Texas Energy Report.

Enterprise Products Partners (EPD) up 0.06 at 28.11 – change 0.21%

EOG Resources (EOG) up 0.33 at 122.25 – change 0.27%

Exxon Mobil (XOM) up 0.36 at 113.99 – change 0.31%

Kinder Morgan (KMI) up 0.09 at 19.00 – change 0.47%

Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) down 0.47 at 28.21 – change 1.64%

NOV Inc. (NOV) up 0.22 at 18.32 – change 1.21%

Occidental Petroleum (OXY) up 0.09 at 61.21 – change 0.14%

Phillips 66 (PSX) up 0.20 at 138.38 – change 0.14%

Tellurian Inc. (TELL) down 0.02 at 0.49 – change 2.53%

Valero (VLO) down 3.72 at 150.90 – change 2.41%
