Quite a bankruptcy fight has developed with SQRL, the convenience store firm that just a year ago acquired dozens of stores in Oklahoma after acquiring them from another bankrupt company.
Now SQRL Holdings creditors want to force it into Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection. The action, according to C-Store Dive and Arkansas Business, followed SQRL’s sale of all of its stores. The stores new owner, Gas Hub LLC is among three of SQRL’s creditors who filed a petition for involuntary bankruptcy.
The creditors accused SQRL of breach of membership unit purchase agreement. Gas Hub, according to C-Store Dive, says it is owed more than $3m million for unpaid rent payments.
After buying 210 stores nationwide from bankrupt Mountain Oil Express of Georgia, SQRL took over operation of several stores in the McAlester area. The stores had been closed during the financial problems faced by Mountain Oil Express. The acquisition included 5 stores in McAlester, two in Longtown and one in Bache.
It also acquired numerous others in the Oklahoma City area.
