Chesapeake Energy to release 1Q earnings report

As it prepares for its merger with Southwestern Energy later in the year, Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Energy Corporation plans a release of its first quarter operational and financial results.

They will be made public after the close of markets on Tuesday, April 30. Company leaders plan to take part in a conference call the next day, Wednesday, May 1 at 8 a.m. Central Time.

While Southwestern Energy is also planning a release of its first quarter earnings, the company does not plan a conference call to discuss results.

Both companies had hopes of holding shareholder meetings by now to vote on the proposed merger. But recent notification by the Federal Trade Commission resulted in delays of such meetings until later in the year.

For Chesapeake, it is the start of a new fiscal year. When fourth quarter and full year earnings were announced in February, the company had quarterly net cash of $470 million from its operating activities and net income of $569 million or $4.02 per fully diluted share. Chesapeake’s net cash for all of 2023 totaled $2.4 billion from operating activities and its net income totaled $2.4 billion or $16.92 per share.
