AARP plans to update members about one of the latest possible rate hikes

AARP Oklahoma plans an update this week to its members regarding some of the latest utility rate hike requests before Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners.

A virtual conversation is scheduled on the AARP Oklahoma Facebook page on Thursday, April 25, at 11 a.m. to discuss AARP Oklahoma’s advocacy work.

AARP Oklahoma State Director Sean Voskuhl and AARP Oklahoma Advocacy Director Joy McGill will discuss AARP Oklahoma’s efforts at the state Capitol and rate hike requests.

They will share updates from its efforts at the Corporation Commission regarding proposed rate hikes from OG&E and PSO totaling more than half a billion dollars. OG&E’s proposed $332.5 million rate hike would cost customers an additional $19 a month or $228 a year. PSO’s proposed $218 million rate hike would cost customers an additional $10 a month or $120 a year.

A legislative update will also focus on the group’s support of  HB 3318/ SB 1763, which prohibits unscrupulous real estate brokers from misleading homeowners into signing decades-long agreements that give the brokers the exclusive right to sell the home.
