Aircraft designers are working on a plane so large that it will be able to carry wind turbine blades and fly them to spots around the world.
Longer than a football field,, the proposed WindRunner aircraft, designed for the wind industry, was recently unveiled by a Colorado-based firm. Its wingspan is 261 feet or nearly the length of a football field. It also stands 79 feet tall.
Fox News reports Radia, based in Boulder, Colorado announced it will design and build the world’s largest aircraft. Radia, founded in 2016, said the monstrous aircraft will enable wind-energy companies to deploy blades that would be difficult to transport on the ground because of bridges, tunnels and road curves.
