OSHA fined a southwest Kansas truck washing company nearly $172,000 over the death of one worker and injuries to two others.
Operators of the Red Barn Truck Wash in Liberal were found guilty of safety violations following an incident last fall where two workers were hospitalized and another died from hydrogen sulfide gas exposure. Investigators say the truck wash failed to properly check conditions of tanker trailers before sending in workers to clean them.
The Kansas Reflector reported The $171,680 in fines faced by Red Barn Truck Wash was for two willful violations and 24 serious violations.
