Crude oil finished the week with a 3% gain while natural gas continued its slump

Despite a slight dip in crude oil prices on Friday, they still finished the week more than 3% higher because of rising demand from US refiners completing planned overhauls. Once again, natural gas prices slipped in Friday’s trading.

West Texas Intermediate crude dropped 17 cents or 0.21% to close trading at $81.09 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Brent crude, the global benchmark, fell 9 cents or 0.11% and settled at $85.33 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.

April natural gas fell 8 cents to $1.66 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Most Oklahoma energy stocks made minor gains in Friday’s trading.

But other energy stocks appeared to have a mixed day of trading, according to the Texas Energy Report.

Exxon Mobil (XOM) down 0.20 at 111.27 – change 0.18%

Kinder Morgan (KMI) up 0.04 at 17.60 – change 0.22%

Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) up 0.25 at 26.51 – change 0.95%

NOV Inc. (NOV) down 0.12 at 18.55 – change 0.65%
