Diesel fuel shortage in Europe sends crude oil prices up in Monday’s trading

Europe is facing a shortage of diesel fuel because of Russian sanctions and shipping disruptions and as a result, crude oil prices gained in Monday’s trading.

Combine that with limited U.S. refinery output because of planned overhauls and you have a recipe for higher prices.

West Texas Intermediate rose $1.09 or 1.43% and settled at $77.58 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Global benchmark Brent crude gained 91 cents or 1.11% and finished the day at $82.53 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.

March natural gas rose 6 cents to $1.66 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Oklahoma energy stocks recorded some losers and  some winners, but nothing proved to be outstanding in either category.
