Devon Energy reported to be interested in acquiring Canadian oil firm

Devon Energy officials in Oklahoma City aren’t commenting, but the oil and gas firm might be the latest in the state to expand its holdings.

Reports suggest Devon is in talks with Canadian-based Enerplus and made an acquisition offer. Devon declined comment. Enerplus did not immediately respond to a request for a comment reported Reuters.

Enerplus

Enerplus, one of the largest independent oil and gas firms in Canada has a reported market value of $2.9 billion, is headquartered in Calgary and operates mostly in the Bakken Basin of North Dakota. It also has some operations in the Marcellus shale region in Pennsylvania. Devon also has operations in North Dakota and were such an acquisition to be made, it could affect Devon’s heavy emphasis on the Delaware Basin of Texas and New Mexico.
